Created for the 2026 San Roke festivities poster competition in Deba (Gipuzkoa), this illustration reimagines one of the town’s most recognisable festive symbols.

Although San Roke has traditionally included bullfighting events, I chose not to represent the bull in that context. Instead, I transformed it into a mask — a symbol that tells a different story. People dance and celebrate around it, while fireworks light up the night, shifting the focus from the bull itself to the shared spirit of the festivities.

Using bold colours, textured brushstrokes and simplified shapes, the illustration celebrates Deba’s identity through a contemporary and playful visual language.
